Ammonia co-firing.

Japan’s larger power company is starting a demonstration project to see if ammonia — which could be made from hydrogen — can be burned with coal in existing power plants, Nikkei Asia reports.

The project is part of a big, and questionable, bet by Japan and South Korea that they can affordably cut carbon emissions their in existing coal and gas plants by substituting hydrogen derivatives.
