The UK’s largest battery storage fund has warned that the way the country's electricity system is run means the technology is not used widely enough, putting investments at risk, the FT reported.

One striking problem: old computer systems that cannot handle multiple assets such as batteries, pushing the operator to buy electricity from other sources, such as gas-plants.
