A U.S. appeals court has upheld California's authority to set stricter fuel emissions limits on automobiles than the rest of the country, E&E News reports.

The ruling spells good news for 17 other states and the District of Columbia that have adopted California's rules as well as the White House's climate plans for the transport sector.
