China, India and southeast Asia will account for three-quarters of global coal consumption this year, with corresponding drops in use in the European Union and U.S., Reuters reports on IEA findings.

Coming on the heels of COP28 where everyone agreed to "transition" from fossil fuels, this report illustrates the chasm between the EU and the U.S. and the Asian countries on use of coal.
