Coal minerals.

The Wall Street Journal reports on the discovery of rare earth minerals at a Wyoming coal mine, a gem of a finding that could wean the U.S. off mineral imports and find a cleaner use for coal mines.

Although a great discovery, it doesn't resolve U.S. dependence on foreign sources for refining these minerals before they can be used in clean technologies.
