A "handful" of local officials in the city council of Alameda, Calif., will vote Tuesday evening whether to allow the first test in the U.S. of marine cloud brightening to continue, E&E News reports.

"It is important this experiment resume," Frank Keutsch, atmospheric science professor at Harvard University, told E&E, because severe impacts of climate change may require "climate intervention."
