The U.S. Department of Energy unleashed a $6 billion "carbon offensive" to decarbonize some 33 hard-to-abate industries like steel, metals and chemicals across some 20 states, Axios reports.

Described as the "single largest industrial decarbonization investment" in the country, the funds will help scale up solutions for a sector responsible for nearly one-third of U.S. emissions.
