The U.S. proposes a fee on methane releases from big oil and gas producers as required under the 2022 climate law, following on the heels of strict curbs placed on the sector, Reuters reports.

Coupled with recently announced federal funding for methane detection technology, this fee will make a dent in curbing the release of this potent greenhouse gas.
