NuScale Power said it will terminate the company's small modular reactor project in Utah, dealing a blow to U.S. ambitions for a wave of nuclear energy projects, Reuters reported.

The issue of rising cost is one that has plagued the nuclear industry — both in the U.S. and in Europe — for years. This news won't be reassuring to other countries keen to adopt the new technology.
