Britain is proposing to impose a tax on carbon-intensive imports in 2027, a year after the EU's own carbon tax is up and running, Reuters reports.

Britain's measure is clearly protectionist as it has the backing of its steel industry, which fears the diversion of high-emitting products from EU to its markets.
