A bill requiring the U.S. Energy Department to study U.S. versus foreign emissions of carbon-intensive goods has been introduced by U.S. Reps. John Curtis (R-UT) and Scott Peters (D-CA).

As both lawmakers noted at a Climate and Trade Summit in D.C., the U.S. needs the carbon intensity information to trade and negotiate with other countries that are exporting carbon-intensive goods.
