In the U.S., there are more than 20 EVs for each public charger right now, and in 2016, there were 7 EVs for each public charger, according to this reporting by Shannon Osaka at The Washington Post.

As the article points out, about 80% of EV drivers charge at home. But the look at EV charging infrastructure is timely given the recent turmoil around Tesla's Supercharger team.
