The next UK renewable energy auction will offer a record £1 billion annual subsidy, the British government announced this week, four times more than this year’s funding, Financial Times reported.

Some were nonetheless disappointed the government chose to extend the windfall tax on North Sea oil and gas producers, but the move reflects ways in which cash can be redirected toward clean energy.
