China has opened a dispute before the World Trade Organization against what it calls "discriminatory" U.S. subsidies for consumers to buy American electric vehicles, Reuters reports.

China wants "a fair level playing field" for its EVs in the global market. What happens though if neither country agrees with the legally binding decision? There is no appeals board at the WTO.
