The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission voted to eliminate regulatory bottlenecks by allowing use of long-term planning and grid-enhancing technologies to bring clean energy resources online.

The nation's power grid is currently ill-equipped to deal with new resources coming online and extreme weather events. As FERC Chairman Willie Phillips noted, "the writing is on the wall."
